EDU 6544 - Organizational Finance

Credits, 3 sem. hrs.
This course explores basic functions in financial and human resource management and provides experiences to help students better understand tasks typically performed by school leaders. Students will examine legalities, ethics, and politics of resource procurement and allocation. Additionally, students will examine the critical functions of leadership and organizational management, complex decision making responsibilities of school executives, and constructive relationships between schools and communities. The course provides practical and academic emphasis on leadership skill development and dispositions.

This course will be required course for students seeking the degree in Independent School Administration.  Independent school administrators must have an in-depth knowledge and the necessary managment skills in relation to a school’s financial budget and programs to be an informed and successful leader.  This course will provide foundational financial management and accountability practices along with operational skills necessary to develop a sound financial program while fulfilling the school’s state mission.
