Prerequisite(s): Successful completion, a grade of "B" or better, in nine core courses that are a part of the CPCE, exit exam (COU 6501 Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues in Counseling ; COU 6502 Theories of Personality and Counseling ; COU 6503 Helping Relationships (Methods and Techniques in Counseling) ; COU/PSY 6504 Research-Methods and Procedures ; COU/PSY 6506 Multicultural Counseling ; COU/PSY 6515 Lifespan Development ; COU 6661 Use and Interpretation of Tests ; COU 6662 Techniques of Group Counseling ; COU 6665 Lifestyle and Career Counseling This course is the first step in Master's-level counseling students registering for their exit exam, the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE), a 160-item, standardized, computer-based exam published by the Center for Credentialing & Education. The 8 core areas of the CPCE cover courses in professional orientation & ethics, helping relationships, research and program evaluation, social and cultural foundations, human growth & development, appraisal, group work, and career & lifestyle development. Students will be guided through the process of registering online for the CPCE.
