COU 6802 - Child Psychopathology - Assessment and TreatmentCredits, 3 sem. hrs. Prerequisite(s): Completion of Helping Relationships (Methods and Techniques in Counseling) or consent of the instructor. The course is required in the Mental Health Counseling Program. Either or COU 6802 is required for students in the Marriage and Family Counseling Program. This course will examine the major diagnostic categories of developmental psychopathology that occur during childhood, including depressive and anxiety disorders, conduct disorders, oppositional defiant disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, eating disorders, and psychoses. Assessment, structured diagnostic interviews, and treatment planning will also be emphasized.
