MUS 6509 - Projects in Applied Theory and Analysis

Credits, 2 sem. hrs.
The subtleties of functional harmony are explored in a series of written projects which culminate in classroom performances of all the students’ work. The sonata, fugue, and some contemporary approaches to musical structure are explored through analysis of selected works and by formulation of questions which probe the essence of the form. Emphasis is placed upon relating analytical detail to actual performance interpretation.
